Well, the weekend may be over but it’s yet another day of no-work for me. It’s going to be a busy week though all the same. I’ve got appointments scheduled in all over the place for various things, car service, health checks, catching up with friends who have birthday’s this week. But then, it’s a good week for a birthday.
This morning as all mornings do, started with dropping Mark at work, then it was off to the doctors, again. All I can say is thank the gods for medical insurance, as it’s over $100 US per visit.
Today’s visit was to address a less than regular heartbeat. Something I wanted to have checked pretty quickly as faulty hearts are a family legacy, and one that if possible I’d prefer to miss out on.
So today saw me having my first ever EKG, a fun little exercise, that for those of us with body hair leaves you with funny hair free square shapes on numerous parts of your body where you’re shaved first so as to stop the adhesive pads tearing said hair out at the roots. Something that I’m all for, I can assure you.
The results were interesting but nothing conclusive, and will require a treadmill test in a couple of days, where I’ll once again be wired up to the eyeballs, plonked on a treadmill and told to “Run, run like the wind” or “Run Forrest, Run!”.
The Doctor’s explanation of the test was “it’s like buying a car, you don’t want to hear the engine idling, you want to take it out on the track and thrash it, and see how the engine runs then”. Interesting analogy, it made me laugh. That was until I realised, that I’m the engine he wants to jam the accelerator down on.
Could be fun, lets hope that when this happens on Thursday, that I don’t die before Friday. I’d at least like to be able to see in my 34th year.
So that’s the day so far. It’s midday already, I’ve a few things to do, and this evening we have our very night of bowling in a team in the Eastside GLBT league. Should be interesting.
Hooroo!
