Last night was our first evening of GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgender) Bowling for the Eastside at Sun Villa Lanes AMF, and it was certainly a lot of fun. The evening even started in the bar. *laugh*
Not that we had anything to drink until we were actually back out at the lanes, then each of us behaved and only had one alcoholic beverage each.
Until last night, bowling was something that I’ve only ever played occasionally, with friends or family. League bowling… well that’s always been out of my league.
Not anymore, and the ultimate benefit is that it turns out to be a lot cheaper to bowl league than it does to bowl recreationally at 3 games, shoe hire and all for the economical price of $10. Bargain! Not to mention that at the end of the season (12 weeks) once you’ve paid all your fee’s ($120 = 10 per week, for 12 weeks) you get your choice of either a bowling ball, bowling shoes or bowling bag. Pretty cool.
We met a few new people last night too which is always fun, and there was certainly a bit to look at. The eye candy quota is very much improved at a bowling alley when you have the GLBT’s on site. There’s a lot less synthetic fabric for a start, and in many, but not all, the cro-magnon gene has been bred out.
Over all I most certainly didn’t bowl my best, but we had fun, and I beat the American on my team. Which was all the more fun given the last time we bowled together (incidentally I won then too) the bugger went home and posted his own blog entry stating that he beat an Aussie. Cheeky monkey!
So, on top of the gym, and going snow boarding soon, I now bowl as well, next on my list is ice skating lessons. I’ll have to check those out today.
Hope you’re all well back in Aussie land, and wherever else you are in the world and reading this.
Hooroo!
