It’s a sign from the gods

Finally it looks like Spring has sprung, or at least is winding up to get moving.  There’s flowers pushing there way up through the soil in the front garden that we weren’t even aware existed.  Tree’s are starting to come out in blossom, and the weather is getting better.  It was a tropical 42F or 8C this morning.  Someone light the bbq, it’s time for a beach party!  Well not quite, but the sun is nice.

Mark’s at work, I’ve been to the gym.  The washing is on, and the ironing board as I’ve just discovered, isn’t working.  I say ironing board, because we brought our swish all in one system with us from Australia.  Until recently it didn’t work due to the voltage differences between the countries.  However, we recently got ourselves a step-up transformer to “up” the power.

So I had planned on getting all the ironing out of the way today while I watched a few DVD’s and stood in the sun (glass patio doors… gotta love em).  Seems it’s not to be.
Apparently the ironing board has been damaged during the move and it no longer works.  Grrr!  Pretty damn annoying for a couple of reasons.  A)  It was bloody expensive $1.8k AUD, and B) We’ve already put in our insurance claim for damaged items, and it’s too late to add anything else.  Bugger, bugger, bugger!

So it’s back to the old iron, and a phone call to the manufacturer to sort out the issue.  Mark’s already called them, and they’ve given us a few ideas on what to try, and if those fail have suggested we send the fan unit to them.

“Fan unit?” you ask…   Never let it be said that I can overlook a gadget that will make my life easier.  The ironing board has a built in fan unit which draws the steam of the iron down through the item you’re ironing, meaning you only have to iron things that are as thick as jeans on one side, and everything takes a mere fraction of the time to iron.  A bonus, as I HATE ironing.  Of course the fan sucks, and blows (I know!  Bonus! LOL!) so delicate items (which I don’t have, but if I did it’d be good) you can steam them into pristine condition.

So it’s a relatively impressive unit, and given how helpful Mark isn’t when it comes to chores of the domestic variety, it was worth every single cent.

I know that most of you will sigh, and cringe, and say “Yuck ironing!”, but it’s just one of those things that has to be done.  But trust me, if you have stacks to do, and it’s a chore you hate, it’s definitely worth looking one up; LauraStar and for the actual one we have, it’s the Magic S4.

Oh, and now I have the transformer, I can finally use my coffee machine again.  That must be the best part of all of it, I can finally, after over 6 months of crap coffee, drink something that is worthy of being called coffee.

Back to the drawing, I mean ironing board for me.  Such an adrenalin packed life I lead, and to think that a certain smartass who will remain nameless, but I’ve lived with for sometime now, made a smart crack last night about “the life of luxury he kept me in”…  HMPH!  Nice luxury, lets see what happens when I go on strike and you’ve got no more clean jocks! :P
