Shuteye time

31 03 2009

It’s been a pretty relaxed day again today.  The weather is still fantastic, and we got to spend time with both of our families and dinner with friends.

Now, it’s bedtime, and I’m ready for it.

G’night!

Movie Night

30 03 2009

After a relatively quiet day we decided to go see a movie this evening.  We saw Confessions of a Shopaholic, and I have to say that I enjoyed it enough that I’d happily see it again.  Which is a good thing, as I’m going to have to when I get back to Seattle as I promised a friend I’d go see it with her. 😉

Otherwise, it’s late, and it’s time for bed.

Hooroo!

Sunshine, you are my sunshine

29 03 2009

You make me happy, when skies are grey!

I’m absolutely loving the weather here at the moment.  It’s always great to be home, but even better when the weather’s fantastic.  Blue skies, sunshine…  Brilliant!

The day has been a relatively quiet one.  A trip to the markets this morning in Camberwell, followed by lunch at Studly Park by the Yarra River, then schlepping back to the shops so Mark could buy a video game, now back for a nap before we head out again tonight.

Quiet…  and yet I’m exhausted.  So, it’s nap time.

Hooroo!

Happy Birthday Jack!

28 03 2009

A whole year old.  Today!

Wow!  A big boy now.

My nephew Jack turns One today, this time last year I was in London when I got the message from my Mum announcing his entrance into the world, and now a whole year later he’s walking, almost running and a giggling bundle of joy and mischief.  Such fun!

To celebrate his birthday my sister is giving him a Pirate Party at a Park near her home, my Mum has slaved over his cake, which I have to admit, she’s excelled herself at, I think even she was surprised.  It’s a huge Pirate Galleon, complete with a smaller version for Jack to destroy all by himself.

I’d better remember to take the camera.

Oh well, must go, have to get organised and drive down the coast to join in the festivities.

Hooroo!

Happy Landings!

27 03 2009

Well, we got out Business Class upgrade, so needless to say the flight from LAX to Melbourne was very pleasant.  There’s just nothing like flying in a bed in pajamas.  Well that’s what I thought, it gets better.  The business class seats have a massage function.  It only lasts 20 minutes, but I just kept on hitting the “on” button.

Sheer bliss!

We’ve already managed to catch up with most of our families and tomorrow will be spent celebrating my nephew’s first birthday.  Fun!

Right now though, I’m exhausted, so it’s bed time for me.

G’night Australia! 🙂

Mile High

26 03 2009

That’s where I am about now, if not there’s a problem and I’m very possibly scattered across a large distance and possibly at the bottom of the ocean.

Hehehe!  Such a cynical thought.  It won’t happen, but if it does, trust that I’ll go down with a glass of decent wine in my hand.

I’ve really no idea where I’ll be globally as this is a pre-typed entry.  But I do know that I can’t be too far away from landing back in Melbourne where I’ll be reunited with family and friends, and be back just in time for my nephew’s and niece’s first birthday.

Ok, back to it.   I’m going to get back to enjoying the lounge here at LAX.

*waves*

Back in Los Angeles

25 03 2009

Only this time I’m sitting in the First Class Lounge and not the Business Class one.  Woohoo!

It’s a perk of being a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program and having flown so much in the last 12 months.

Even better, through the same membership, we managed to upgrade our flights to Business Class.  Comfy sleeper seats and pj’s.   Woohoo x2!!

Other than that, there’s nothing to report.  I was nice and let Mark be my guest to access the First Class Lounge, otherwise he’d have been next door in the Business Class one.  Not that there’s much difference.  This lounge is a little smaller, much quieter, has exactly the same food, the only real difference is the quality of the alcohol.   As for the food, there’s not a great deal I can eat anyway as it’s all got wheat in it.  Dammit!  Well not really, this is like an enforced diet, all carbs are limited based purely on my being allergic.

Ok, I’m gunna do some typing, kill some time, then have a nice hot shower, change into some fresh comfy clothes and board my plane.  We’re flying on the A380 again.

Back in Melbourne tomorrow!!  One hemisphere to another in a little over a day.

Rhonda…  Safe and pleasant travels to you.  Enjoy Seattle.

Hooroo!

Last minute scramble

24 03 2009

… and I’m not talking eggs.

We fly out tomorrow afternoon for three weeks in Australia, so today has been, and in fact still is pretty hectic.

The cats have been deposited at their “holiday resort”, the dogs are going to be staying at home as a friend of ours will be house sitting for us.

A couple of cases have been packed, there’s still some more stuff to be done, then gym in the morning, home to sort the last few things out, then up, up and away.

Next stop, after Los Angeles of course, Melbourne, Australia.  *happy dance* 🙂

Hear Ye, Hear Ye

23 03 2009

Happy First Anniversary Luke and Richard!  A year ago today that I was in Edinburgh.  Wow!

2 more sleeps and I’ll be back on a plane and on my way back to Melbourne for my nephew Jack’s first birthday.

Exciting!

This time last year…

22 03 2009

I was in Edinburgh, and if my calculations are accurate, I’d been home from a Ghost Tour of the underground vaults for a few hours.  Well not quite home, but in the Hotel.

Or that may have been the night before, actually, I think it was.  Ahhh…  I just remembered.  This time last year, we’d not long returned from dinner with Luke and Richard and their families, I’d spent part of the evening writing up my speech for the next day, Luke’s Wedding to Richard, where I was one of two Best Men.

Funny how fast the time flies by.  It’s only 5 months and I’ve been in America for 3 years…

Otherwise, there’s not much going on.  Today was a relatively quiet day.  A quick trip into Seattle to take some photos, then back home to do some tidying up around the house.  Especially since there’s only 3 more sleeps until we leave.

Happy Anniversary to Luke and Richard for tomorrow! 🙂
