Incy Wincy drowned

19 06 2009

After nearly thirty days without rain, a record for the Seattle area, the rains finally came.  Not a deluge, but enough to drop the temperature and make everything smell nice and fresh outside.

It also means I don’t have to water the plants tonight, which I’m happy about as I’ve spent the day on the couch with a sore throat and a headache, and intend on spending the evening in much the same position.

In other news, before the rains came, the day was pretty mild, mild enough that all the critters were out.  The dogs were sun baking with their heads on their paws, the birds were having a field day on the bird feeders I’ve put up around the house, and there were at least seven squirrels cavorting all over the lawn picking at the spilt seed and the peanuts I’d put out expressly for them.

Judging by their size, I’m guessing that the majority of them are adolescent squirrels who’ve only recently been venturing into the big world.  Watching them playing in the yard is quite amusing.  The cats have been thoroughly entertained most of the day.

It’s a real reality show for the pets, and they love it!
