Too tired to do much today, and that includes type. So I’m calling do-over tomorrow, and having an early night tonight.
That took forever…
30 08 2009I promised last night that I’d update my blog with the details off the weekend. Sorry, but that’s not going to happen tonight.
We left the hotel at 10.30am this morning, and a trip that should have taken 4.5 hours, became 10.5 hours due to traffic congestion caused by a mobile home fire on the main freeway we needed to get home. I believe noone was hurt, which is a good thing.
Right now though, my eyes are practically hanging out of my head from driving for so long, and I’m ready to kill for a shower.
So I’ll bid you adieu for this evening.
Hooroo!

Super Fun!
29 08 2009What a day!
Seven of us spent a good 12 hours today at the Silverwood Theme Park, riding the rides, and having a great time.
Right now though I’m too tired to type too much, so I’ll do what I can to make amends tomorrow.
Hooroo, I’m all tuckered out.

Let the fun begin…
28 08 2009After nearly 5 long hours of driving we, and the Miller’s have all arrived safely in Spokane ready for a day of fun tomorrow at Idaho’s Silverwood Theme Park and Boulder Beach for a day of shenanigans for the big kids and little kids before the little kids all go back to school next week.
It should be a lot of fun, but for now the day is drawing to a close. It was a loooooong drive, I’ve had a nice hot shower and made good use of the massage jets for my back, and I’m settled in on top of the bed about to watch a movie.
Oh, before I sign off. We all went out for dinner tonight at a “Chinese” restaurant. The food was ok, the servings were enormous, and most of the food didn’t get eaten, the highlight for me though… The fortune cookie.
I got a good fortune. A potentially “over 18” fortune… *laugh*
Be prepared to receive something special in a large package
*clicks heels together* Yay!
G’night!

Ummm?
27 08 2009Today there was a party by the lake for his team.
To enter, he had to show his work identification, then they stamped our wrist.
The stamp is pictured.
See the irony?
If you don’t… It’s an Apple. To reiterate… He works for Microsoft. 😉
Tee hee!

UGH! A thousand times UGH!
26 08 2009I decided to do some gardening today. Primarily trimming back the neighbours tree that is overhanging our yard and stunting the growth of an established Magnolia tree in our yard.
I made sure I had the right tools, bowsaw, telescoping tree pruner and saw etc. Everything was going according to plan, until I started.
The tree in question, from our vantage point from the house looks lush and bushy, from the fence line, it’s exactly that, except for one thing. There is absolutely no foliage covered part of the tree in the neighbours yard from whence it’s grown. The only part they have is the trunk. Ugh!
So we’re stuck cutting it back and removing all the cut off branches, and they’ve nothing to deal with but a trunk.
I’d love to throw all the branches back over the fence into their yard, sadly the law here states that if it’s on my side it’s my problem. Damn!
Of course, since it’s a large tree, the job is a lot bigger than I first imagined, and our backyard is now completely unusable for the time being as it’s covered in branches, and I’ve only cut off 4 so far. There’s stacks more to go.
I should have left it alone, or set fire to it all. Oh well.
At least when it’s all done the yard will be clearer. Although tomorrow I’ll be on the phone getting quotes from professional arborists. There are other trees that need pruning, higher up than I can safely reach, and I figure if I hire someone, they’ll clean up after themselves and remove the branches, I’ll certainly be making sure if we hire someone that that is part of the service.
So for the time being tomorrow will be spent cutting everything up into smaller pieces to move it out to the front of the house onto the current pile of branches from the front trees.
Everything here was WAY over due for pruning, all the trees are established and were overhanging footpaths, our fences and gates, and the house itself, which of course means all the leaves were falling into the gutters.
Home owning… Have to love it!

Losing the plot…
25 08 2009Either I’m a day ahead of myself, or I left my brain in Fiji, or it’s a combination of both.
I’ve just run around the house like a mad thing doing chores, emptying litter trays, bins, moving garden rubbish, and putting the bins out for collection, only for Mark to tell me that tomorrow isn’t bin day.
Tomorrow is Wednesday, and collections are Thursday…
On the upside, I have an extra day in my week.
Guess I’d better have an early night, my brain is already sleeping, my body needs to join it.

Back to Bowling
24 08 2009As of this evening I’m bowling again. Happily, across 2 games I managed to bowl 10 strikes. Sadly, they weren’t in a row.
I have to admit I’m surprised with my efforts. Especially given the last time I bowled with my friend Lisa and her six year old daughter Sophia, her daughter beat me, AND the lane had it’s bumpers up.
Shame! 😉
Time for an early night now though. All the excitement has tired me out.

Colour Splash
23 08 2009Well as I mentioned yesterday I checked out some paint samples for the house today, only I’m not quite sure if I’m happy with any of them. What I really want to do is scan in a photo of the house, and the colour samples and manipulate the house photo on the computer with the colour samples to test them first.
Only one problem… I’ve no idea what software to use to do it…
Anyone have any clues? If it helps, I’m using a PC.
Ideas are very welcome. Otherwise, I’m back to the couch to watch Project Runway Australia courtesy of Internet downloads, and to read up on some information for garden irrigation systems. I’ve decided to install my own and save some money.

The Weekend is Here!
21 08 2009Happy days! Importantly all the washing, drying and ironing are done, so other than a few outdoor chores, the weekend should be a pretty relaxing one.
I think I may even investigate new paint colours for the exterior of the house. It needs a freshen up, and I’m not sure I can wait until a remodel.
I think I’ll also take my films from Fiji in to be processed, that’ll take half a day just to fill out the envelopes as there’s about 25 of them. 😉
