I don’t see what all the fuss is about

2 08 2009

Yesterday was a day spent shopping at Mark’s request, and today we spent another day doing things he wanted, such as checking out the Jim Henson Muppets exhibition at the Seattle Science Fiction Museum and Experience Music Project.

It was actually pretty cool seeing some of our favourite characters in real life.  Kermit, Bert and Ernie, and most importantly Mahna Mahna and the Snowts.  I have to confess that was my favourite part of the exhibit.   There have been many, many, many, many (and repeat) times that song has come up and been re-enacted with friends or colleagues.  It’s always good for a giggle, and pretty universal in it’s attraction… 🙂

Post display we went off to see Bruno, the subject of this posts title.  Admittedly I’m glad we got to see the movie at a discounted price, but I have to say, despite the reviews, and the derogatory critiques, I found the movie pretty funny.  As did everyone else in the cinema with us, and I feel safe in saying EVERYONE, as there were only 15 of us there, so it was easy to check.

The film is pretty farcical, playing up many homosexual stereotypes, and taking them to their extreme, to insight powerful reaction amongst viewers and those actually in the film/documentary.

There are many scenes that will shock, but even the most shocking had people laughing.  I guess you’ll just have to judge it for yourself.  As always though, bigots are highlighted, and fun is poked at the hypocrisy in values in many.

See it for yourself.  Or don’t.  I won’t lose any sleep over it. 😉

But I’m pretty sure of all things in this post, the Mahna Mahna song will get stuck in your head! hehe
