Packing Paralysis

4 12 2009

You’re think by now with the amount of travel I’ve done in the last few years that I’d have my packing down to a finely tuned art.  I sort of do.

But…  I always find myself paralysed.  I’m not even remotely motivated to pack a suitcase.  I hate it.  It’s a job that can be done in under 30 minutes, but I can actively drag it out for hours as I procrastinate and distract myself.

This blog entry in itself is a distraction/interruption from packing.  Even the very fact that I’m flying to Anaheim, California for a 5 day visit to Disneyland isn’t spurring me on.

The house is clean.  The pets are primed, our friend Jeff is all sorted and ready for a stint of house and pet sitting (Thankyou Jeff!), but as for packing…  UGH!

Ok, I’m going to wrap this up and go do some more.  I really need to pull my finger out, get it sorted, and get to bed.  It’s not helping that I’m so tired.

I was up early this morning and then on the road for over 7 hours with my friend Lisa as we drove cross country, East over the Cascade Mountains to get her new Himalayan kitten, Cadbury.

Alright, that’s it.  I’m out of here, I need to perform a packing miracle.  It’ll probably be like every other trip, I’ll do it in the morning moments before I need to walk out the door.  Urgency in itself is a brilliant motivator.

Hooroo!
